Getting Ready for Windows 7 Beta
It’s Jan 7th, 2009. I’m waiting for Steve Ballmer’s keynote to kick off CES 2009, and hoping he announces a public beta of Windows 7. My HP Touchsmart PC (HP TouchSmart IQ506 22 inch screen multi-touch PC) arrived yesterday. I’ve had the chance to test out the TV tuner, play Fallout 3 (have to run it on low quality mode) and both worked well.
Anyways, the real reason I bought the TouchSmart is to try out the Windows 7 Beta. The touch on the TouchSmart is not as good as I’d like, and not as bad as some reviewers would indicate. There isn’t really any multitouch on the TouchSmart – so looking forward to seeing it once I’ve installed Windows 7.
For now, I’m just really excited at the imminent release of the Windows 7 Beta. There’s also been news from Microsoft that anyone buying Vista licenses from June (or perhaps July) would be eligible for free (or cheap) upgrades to Windows 7 – good news indeed.
After the keynote starts, I’m going to update this post with thoughts on Mr. Ballmer’s KeyNote.
